The City of Missoula is conducting a phased closure of the Johnson Street Temporary Emergency Shelter, beginning in April and concluding on Sept. 2. See more from the City of Missoula.
United Way is proud to support this effort by administering the Johnson Street Shelter Housing Sprint Fund, providing resources to shelter residents moving into stabilization.
The Johnson Street Housing Sprint
This spring and summer, the City and its partners employed a targeted "housing sprint," an intensive, time-limited effort designed to connect shelter residents with permanent housing options and critical support services. The housing sprint includes assistance with rental applications, proof of identification, substance use and medical referrals, transportation assistance, and housing-focused case management to help individuals transition successfully. Results as of August 15 are available from the City of Missoula.
The City will also provide relocation assistance when appropriate and work in partnership with local service providers to ensure shelter residents receive the support they need. The closure of the Johnson Street Temporary Emergency Shelter is not a step back, but part of a broader effort to implement long-term housing solutions.
Give now to the Johnson Street Housing Sprint: These flexible funds will be used to support housing solutions for those currently staying at the Johnson Street Shelter.
